Well lets see, shelter, food, hoof picks, halters, Lung line, Ferson, bandages, leg wraps, brushes, water buckets, grain a pasture some knowledge of horses, a vet that will come th the pasture and shoer, money! Too much information for this question!! I could write for days

mini horses aren't as easy to take care of as alot of people think.
alot of times they are temperamental, have attitudes and gain weight just by looking at food. They can not be put on full pasture! and i can not stress that enough! ponies are a very high severe risk for founder/lamenitis. This is a serious leg problem that can happen at any age, cause by over weight, or over each lush green grass- quick weight gain.
I can tell you from personal experience that if you just want this pony for a pet, feed it a hand full of grain, i would say hay pellets and about a flake of hay a day.
Do not let the pony get over weight.
I took in an over weight 3 year old pony that, had founder and will never ever be ok, and will not live out his long years.

Dont get me wrong mini horses can be great pets and lovable at that, but dont forget your pony is not a horse, its a horse that needs horse care. Grooming, and a proper diet. Feed it breakfast and dinner, that's it and some treats are ok.

your pony will need grooming, excersize, a paddock to go out in and your tlc!

There is no difference in caring for a mini horse then a full size horse they all need the same basic care mini's in smaller portions.

They need the same care as normal horses, but in mini size.
They still need food, water, shelter, turn out, vet and farrier care, and are herd animals (ie likes having a buddy).
But they are prone to founder if feed too much (either grain or rich pasture), are which is easy to do since they are so small. Founder is more likely to occur in fat ponies, than those at health weight, so watch his diet.

you care for them exacly the same as a normal hors ejust because their little dosen't change what they require but what ever you don't over play with them as they so become sour very quickly.
and they still require the same amout of work

You will need everything as if it were a full size horse. Pasture area, shelter, grooming tools, training equipment, etc. Just in smaller sizes. A mini horse is no easier to care for and work with than a full size horse. They do however come with a large amount of extra health concerns that full horses do not have. Mini horses are not domestic pets, like dogs and cats, and cannot be treated as such. They are prey animals and do not react the same and therefore cannot be trained the same as a dog. They must be trained and cared for by someone with a great amount of horse knowledge and addition knowledge of minis and their uniqueness.
