Hamster okay?

When I put my hamster in one of my draws, and leave it pulled out so he can run around when i go to get food, he does this weird thing where he keeps scratching at the bottom of the draw then he does like a back foot push out thing, and then keeps repeating, anyone know? hes a dwarf hamy
Answers:
He's probably trying to dig. Wild hamsters live underground and dig daily, domesticated hamsters also love to dig and will try to dig in corners.
one of my friends hamsters does sumthing like what u were describing. ive always thought it was just him playing around, but i guess i could be wrong...
There's nothing wrong with him, he just doesn't like being put in there. Every hamster I've ever bought has done that to the box I've brought them home in. He just wants out.
It sounds like he's trying to dig. Think about the same movements if he were in shavings or loose soil. It doesn't necessarily mean he hates it in there. He might just be trying to explore.
He is trying to escape. They try to dig there way out of places.
it sounds like he doesnt realize he isnt digging and so he pushes the extra dirt away with his back foot. If he were in dirt he probably would be digging really well.
Your dwarf hamster is digging. Hamsters are rodents and in the wild live underground. They did burrows and live in them.
It is not something to worry about. He may smell dust in the drawer and is digging instinctively.
