Hampster is peeing blood?

I have a hamster and we think he might be a she which would explain that his urine is red. But then again he could have a cold. One eye is closed and he is still running and eating but he is also peeing blood. He is a teddy bear hampster we've had him about a year. We are going to Petsmart to see if htey have anything for colds. I also heard you can put a blanket over the cage to help him but we just got an ac that might be it too. any knowledge or do you think i hit the condition?

Take the hamster to a vet ASAP! It sounds like this is some sort of internal infection. They decline very quickly once they are sick.

BLADDER OR KIDNEY INFECTION: One of the first signs is excessive drinking, which in turn creates increased urinating. Occasionally there is blood in the urine and the hamster may squeal in pain while urinating. Immediate veterinarian assistance is required.
is it a girl if so it mite b on it period!!! ha ha ha na j/k idk
Take him to the vet asap. that could be a sign of a serious intestinal problem. plus the vet can give you some meds for its cold to.
has he drinken anything? if the pee is too acidic, than it can krritae the lining of the bladder, causing blood. dehydration might also explain the other symtoms
Hampsters suffer an anomaly called "wet tail". They "pee" on themselves and cannot wipe or clean themselves. Their bottoms become infected by urine, affecting their immune system, leading to other infections. Hampsters can seem perfectly healthy one day, and two or three days later be dead.

Once the "wet tail" syndrome occurs, there is not much a hampster owner can do. Even a vet cannot circumvent the "wet tail" syndrome. Those who sell hampsters need to inform the prospective owner of the consequences of owning a hampster; unfortunately, many pet shops do not. Many children have been traumatized by the death of their hampster pet, thinking they were responsible, when the fact is that hampsters are very susceptible to disease.
Hampsters can get urinary tract infetions too...it could be fatal- Maybe you should take him to a VET.

Lucy from http://www.hamstertracker.com had recently passed away because of a urinary tract infection. She was peeing blood. It was quite sad =(

You should take yours to the vet to make sure its not anything serious- especially if he has any decrease in appetite or activity and defication or has been drinking tons of water.
i don't know much about hamster pee, but are you sure it's blood or is it just red urine? rabbits (yes i'm aware they aren't the same thing, but they could be similar in this respect) will sometimes have reddish urine (the color of their urine usually ranges in the orange-ish to reddish) that can look like tomato juice mixed with milk but it's normal and okay.
