Freestyle to music competition test!?

i am going to my first freestyle to music competition and i have no idea where to begin!
i have looked at all the compulsary movements but thst just have seemed to scare me more! and where to begin finding the music?
HELP! :)
Answers:
It is extremely hard to put together a freestyle without the help of a professional choreographer- you need music that fits your horse's tempo and style. Then you fit the moves to the music, matching it perfectly with the drum beats.
If the compulsary movements are scaring you, maybe you are not ready to do a freestyle. Those movements are the basics for the level that you are riding in. If you can not do the test sufficently at the level the freestyle is, there is no way you could do a freestyle.

I do know a few people who put together their own, and it usually takes 2 months or so (or 1 month if working every day) to find music, add complementary movements for the music and your horse, and then practice until perfect. It is not something you can wing together in a week and expect it to be good.

Music: you can use any music without words. The most common is classical, but I have seen country and rock ones as well, depending on the horse. You can browse the internet/stores looking for music, and then need a splicing tool on the computer to put chunks of music together. It can be done on a mix tape, but it is hard to get a good blending effect.

Good luck! I would love to do a freestyle (we are at 1st level now) but I do not have the time, money, or creativity to do so.
Why the hell is this in pets?
It's likely that you should learn more about it, go to one and watch... Join a club where they work together, talk to people who already participate.. I wouldn't enter until you got your stuff together.. You will look a little out of place if you haven't gotten your routine together.
Its in pets because a horse is a pet! duh.

Anyway, the first step to a good musical ride oir freestyle dressage test, is the music, look around for something without lyrics, the jitterbug is a good song, as is those jivy upbeat songs.
Next, enlist the help of a trainer or coach, that way, you can get help with some of the movements tath you must include, obv. it would have walk, trot and canter, so try to arrange the movements and their beats (footfalls) with the beats in the song, walk =4 trot = 2canter=3 etc etc

Make sur ethe music starts with a solid beat, and when you finish, so does the music.

A good place for music is the second hand stores, get a vinyl and they may have a record player, check out the jive names, and then write them down and get it on cd, also the internet, its just a metter of getting NO lyrics.

Thats all i can help with right now, i havent done a freestyle before, but i have done musical rides throughout my pony club years, and ive coriographed the rides also.

Good luck, and i hope its a lot of fun.
