Does anyone know how to tell when a goat is close to giving birth. My doe is overdue.?

Answers:
This usually happens when you are sick and your son has to birth the goat babies.

Yuck!
First of all, I suppose goats are like most other animals and will exhibit unusual behaviors before giving birth.

Now, is she overdue from her first breeding or last breeding? In dogs there is a range of days she could whelp starting from the first time she was bred (63 days later) to the last day she was bred(63 days later). A dog can whelp anytime during that span of days. There is usually a week of that time.

Possibly your goat didn't get pregnant on the first breeding. Since she's past due, just keep a close eye on her.

Dogs don't usually need a lot of help, do goats? Just nosey.
Usually they "udder up"! Meaning they start to produce excessive amounts of milk and their udder fills up, go and feel her udder and see if it's very full if so then she's close. Also watch for her to be restless, not eating, and watch for her to lay down and look at her stomach a lot. Good Luck.
She should start "leaking" Milk, Goats are very quite when it comes to giving birth they try and hide it untill they cant anymore most times it at night when it quite and everyone's asleep! Good luck and have fun baby's are SO funny!
